What is Masala Marsala?

Masala Marsala is a mishmash of ideas: everything from Indian-Italian fusion to Mixed Media. It began as a website for recipes but has ever since evolved.

What is Indian Italian fusion?

Indian Italian fusion (AKA Indo-Italian fusion) is a cuisine that consists of Indian and Italian foods. We named our website Masala Marsala as a combination of the words Masala and Marsala, representative of Indian-Italian fusion and a mishmash of ideas. You can find more information about Indian-Italian fusion here.

Masala vs. Marsala

Masala and Marsala are ingredients used in Indian and Italian cooking. Masala is any mixture of spices used in Indian cuisine. Marsala refers to a wine used in many Italian foods. They are often confused for their similar-sounding names but come from entirely different cuisines.

Masala and Marsala are also confused because of Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Marsala. Both are well-known foods in Indian and Italian cuisine but are completely different recipes.

What are Masala Marsala recipes?

Masala Marsala recipes are based on Indian-Italian foods that take some ideas from other cuisines. For example, Butter Chicken Alfredo is based on Butter Chicken but uses the Alfredo sauce of Fettuccine Alfredo. It sounds gross at first but it tastes delicious!
